The Awkward Years
So I got a small package in the mail today. My old high school friend, Aron Abrams, had found an old reel to reel tape we recorded way back in 1979 or so. It was full of old songs we had written, so he burnt it onto a CD and sent me a copy. It was kind of funny hearing myself singing back then, my voice was cracking like Peter Brady. When its time to change!!!
Anyway, the more disturbing thing was the old photo that Aron had dug up and used for the CD cover. It shows a young Geno and a young Aron, both with hair, standing in Aron’s kitchen back in Emerson, NJ. I still remember the buttons on the denim jacket. The red one is a tomato but I don’t remember the significance of that. But the yellow one is a smile face
with a bullet hole in it’s head. I think I still have that, and will be searching my junk boxes all weekend just in case.
If I ever get up the nerve to completely embarass myself, maybe I’ll rip that CD into MP3 and put it up here.
